1. How to Connect WhatsApp Business API

Path in Zenith: Manage → Credentials

To run Zenith Code, your WhatsApp number must be connected to Meta's official WhatsApp Business API (Cloud API). You'll collect three details from Meta — Access Token, Phone Number ID, and WhatsApp Business Account ID (WABA ID) — and paste them into Zenith under Manage → Credentials.

Before you start

  • A Facebook account that is Admin of your Meta Business Portfolio (business.facebook.com).
  • A phone number that is NOT currently active on the normal WhatsApp / WhatsApp Business app. If it is, open WhatsApp on the phone → Settings → Account → Delete account first.
  • Business details handy (name, address, website) — needed for display name approval.
  1. 1

Go to developers.facebook.com → log in with Facebook → My Apps → Create App.

Capture: Meta 'Create App' screen. Highlight: the Create App button.
  2. 2

Select app type 'Business' → enter an app name (e.g., MyShop WhatsApp) → select your Business Portfolio → Create App.

  3. 3

On the app dashboard, find the WhatsApp product card → click 'Set up'.

Capture: App dashboard with the WhatsApp product card. Highlight: the Set up button.
  4. 4

Get your WABA ID & Phone Number ID: left menu → WhatsApp → API Setup. Add your business number on this page → verify it via SMS or voice call OTP. Both IDs appear at the top once the number is added.

Capture: WhatsApp → API Setup page. Highlight: WhatsApp Business Account ID and Phone Number ID.
  5. 5

Create a Permanent Access Token: open business.facebook.com → Business Settings → Users → System Users → Add.

    • Name it (e.g., zenith-system-user), role = Admin → Create.
    • Click 'Add Assets' → Apps → select your app → give Full Control → Save.
    • Click 'Generate New Token' → select your app → tick permissions: whatsapp_business_messaging AND whatsapp_business_management → Generate.
    • Copy the token immediately — Meta shows it only once.

Capture: System User 'Generate Token' popup. Highlight: the two whatsapp permissions ticked.
  6. 6

Now open Zenith Code → Manage → Credentials → '+ Add Credential' → choose 'WhatsApp Business API' → paste the Access Token, Phone Number ID and WABA ID → Save.

Capture: Zenith Manage → Credentials, 'Add Credential' dialog filled with dummy values. Highlight: the Save button.

Important: Do NOT use the temporary token shown on the API Setup page — it expires in 24 hours. Always use the System User permanent token from the step above.

  7. 7

The credential should show as connected. Set your Display Name in Manage → Business Profile — Meta reviews it (few hours to 2 days). The name must match your business/shop board or website.

Good to know

  • Zenith only asks for Access Token, Phone Number ID and WABA ID — there is no App ID / App Secret field in the credential form. App ID/Secret are only relevant if you use the optional 'Connect with Facebook' embedded signup, which is configured at the platform level.

Tips

  • Complete Business Verification (business.facebook.com → Business Settings → Security Centre) to unlock higher daily messaging limits.
  • If Zenith shows a token error later, regenerate the System User token in Meta and update the credential in Manage → Credentials.
  • Keep the same Business Portfolio for your Ad Account too — connecting Meta Ads (Article 12) becomes much simpler.
